What fortuitous event heightened the alertness of the animals of Mistmantle so that they would be much more attentive to Padra's speech?

  2. The fortuitious event that made the animals more attentive to Padra's speech was that the guards searched for Tay, but Tay was gone and they couldn't find her so Tay couldn't share her speech. They did not know that she was trapped. Padra was next in line to share his speech and Husk got really mad when the King said that Padra could share his speech before Tay because he was supposed to make Padra go to jail and then Husk would share his speech.

  3. The fortuitous event that happened during Padra's speech is when Tay went missing. When the guards went out looking and came back with nothing, the animals knew something was going on and woke the animals up a little.

  8. @ everyone I agree. The animals at the speech probably started noticing that Tay was not there and began to wonder about it and eventually ask about it or notify someone.
