On Page 92, Padra was speaking to Granite, and said, "I'm afraid he's a dead loss. He's been with me for months now, and he's completely untrainable."
What do you make of this? How do you interpret it? Does it seem consistent with what you see and what you know about Padra's relationship with Urchin?
I think Padra pretended to be Urchin's friend and then tried to be optimistic with Urchin and then talk behind his back about him unable to train.

ReplyDeleteI think Padra was sort of pretending that he liked Padra. I think that Padra was sort of using Urchin to get things done that Padra didn't do. On the other hand Urchin didn't here that right. Maybe Padra wasnt talking about Urchin. Maybe Padra was talking about a boat driver or someone packing and un-packing a boat.
ReplyDeleteI think that Captain Padra might have been talking about someone else. Or he was just pretending to be nice and his friend and was just getting Urchin to do his work when he didn't want to. John that first sentence doesn't make since you said Padra was pretending to like Padra, their the same person?

ReplyDeleteI think Captain Padra was talking about a page that belongs to Captain Husk. Or she was talking about Urchin and how it was a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteI think it was surprising that Padra would say that because she seemed nice to Urchin before. I think she is saying what she means that she thinks that Urchin is not helpful and that he should give up on him.
