Chapter Five

In this chapter, Captain Husk makes his way down to a secret and ancient dungeon.  As he "soaked himself in the atmosphere of the dungeon," (p. 59) it seems as though we can learn something important through his thoughts.  What did you learn and how do you know it?

  1. I think it tells that Husk murdered the prince. I think this because it say that he thinks of the first murder he committed and he thinks he would make a way better king and based on what Tay said on pages 44 and 45 husk, being a captain, could become king if the prince dies. Sense the captain who has been serving the longest would become king, Crispin being in that position would get that honor, but in blaming Crispin, Crispin would have to leave the island. So, I think husk did it to become king some day.

  2. Now I think Captain Husk killed Prince Tumble because when he was in the dungeon it said he knows how to be powerful ruler and I think he want to be in charge so he killed Husk. So I think Husk did that so he could become king. I also think Captain Husk is going to kill the king and blame it on Captain Padra so he would become king

  4. To go along with what I wrote before I think Husk is trying to take control with someone else too.

  5. I agree with Johnathon. But I disagree with one thing you said, I don't think Husk is going to blame Captain Padra, I think he is going to blame Urchin. I think that because back in the book, Captain Padra said he wants Urchin to be the king.

  6. I think Captain Husk is the murderer too. It will help Captain Husk a lot since he killed Prince Tumble. It will help him because after he killed him he blamed it on Captain Cripin and he's next in line so with him out of the way,he would be king. So he killed prince tumble.

  7. Now that I think about it, maybe Husk is the murderer because of what John said. The way the ranking levels work on the island will end up giving someone else power. And once someone has that power over everyone, it would be hard not to believe his accusations on someone.
